Birth Photography / Gallatin TN Photographer / Nashville TN

When I decided to make the leap to a full-time photographer, birth photography is what excited me the most! There is nothing I love more in life than being a mom. It has been the title I most cherished since I received it only two weeks after turning twenty. What an honor to be the photographer that captures some of the most intimate moments in a couple’s life! THIS birth is even more special to me, this is my baby giving birth to her baby!!

Birth Photography is back!

Hospital restrictions were changing with the rise and fall of the pandemic. For a period of time, in-hospital birth photography came to a halt. I was so grateful the restrictions were starting to lift to allow two visitors in the room. My thought was I would be that fly on the wall creating the photojournalistic birth story. What a special moment it was when the nurse at St Thomas Midtown invited me to hold one of Autumn’s legs while John held the other when she started pushing! Not only did I get to witness my daughter giving birth to her daughter but I was able to play a small active role. A moment I will cherish forever!

Autumn’s water broke at 5:30 pm walking out the door on the way to dinner with friends who were also expecting. Their due dates were one day apart from each other in mid-August. Being two and half weeks away from her due date Autumn questioned, “Was that really my water breaking” and decided she was hungry let’s go! Her contractions started around 8 pm and they headed to the hospital around midnight. Epidurals are a woman’s best friend when in labor, I even remember that from 28 years ago 🙂

Autumn has ALWAYS been an overachiever and pushes herself to be the very best at everything she does. She most definitely received an A+ for her labor and delivery! Not only did Autumn hold her own legs back while pushing, but the doctor also joked that she was so flexible she could probably hold her own feet. Challenge on, and she did just that! Scroll through the pictures and you can see this for yourself. Sophia Marie Rainey was born on Thursday, July 29th at 5:58 pm. Weighing in at 6lbs 5oz and 17.5″ long. I’m so very thankful my daughter and son-in-law allowed me to not only be there when my granddaughter was born but also capture these memories for us to cherish forever! Mimi may be my new favorite title 😉

Babies!! I love babies. I don’t care who’s or what baby it is. Gender, race, height, weight?! Bring them to me. I love to hold, snuggle, cuddle, and smell them all.
These pictures of Daddy, Mommy, and Sophia Marie are the most precious, beautiful and gorgeous of all. Excellent job, Mimi 🥰
