If there ever was a time to want to freeze every moment into permanent memory it is the beginning of life! Going from hospital to home is the true beginning of life outside of the birth experience. Capturing baby snuggles in a swaddle with the brand new parent glow is priceless. I promise they don’t stay this tiny for long. Our memories are never as good as we think they will be either. I’ve never met anyone who was sorry for documenting life with pictures.

Sophia Marie Rainey is perfect in every way. Her parents could not be more in love with her and it shows in the way they look at her. She was not a fussy baby in the hospital at all and honestly looks just like a tiny porcelain doll! Zachary, Uncle Zandy, drove up from Atlanta to visit his niece while still in the hospital. I was able to capture a few laughs between siblings. I love the picture of Sophia holding Autumn and John’s fingers in each of her hands. Or how about the one she’s giving us kissy faces already 🙂 From the tiny toes to the big yawns, this little girl has already taken over the hearts of all the people that are in love with her.

Waiting for the hospital discharge orders

Sophia’s bilirubin was a little high and she had to spend night two in the nursery under lights. Autumn and John were missing her terribly, even though they knew she was just down the hall and phototherapy was what she needed. It was a pleasant surprise that discharge papers started rolling in the next morning. Everyone was heading home on Saturday around noon to greet Charley, see the last picture below 🐾 The nurses at St Thomas Midtown ensured that Autumn and John had everything they needed and walked them safely to their car with the tiny bundle in the brand new car seat.
