The Cole family was such a joy to photograph! Lauren reached out to me to schedule 6-month milestone pictures of their precious daughter Lyla. I’m so glad she wanted family pictures too. There are some great family images! When we scheduled the session we weren’t exactly sure what location we were going to use. We kept the location open until the week of the session. When I suggested the Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park Lauren was excited. They used to live in Germantown, across from the park which has meaning and holds happy memories.

Best time for photograhing babies

We had originally scheduled an evening photo session because well, who doesn’t love golden hour?! ☀️ However taking into consideration that this was Lyla’s 6-month photo session as well as a family shoot that was probably not her best hour for photos. I’m so glad Lauren and I talked about what time would be best for Lyla! We scheduled the shoot for directly after her first nap in the morning. I got to the location about an hour before our session to walk around and find the best places that would work for this precious family of three. As I was walking around the Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park in the morning and enjoying all the sites and sounds the morning brings I thought WHY ON EARTH am I not doing more morning shoots?! If you are an early riser or have a baby that makes you an early riser haha I’d love to be your sunrise photographer!!

Lyla isn’t quite sitting up on her own yet so you can see her parent’s arms in her pictures. I actually LOVE this! Being a parent has always been my most cherished role in life. At 6-months old Lauren and Hayden are helping Lyla sit up, but even when their arms won’t be needed anymore, no doubt they will always be there to extend a helping hand to walk with her, to hold her, to clap with her in times of celebration. Getting the detailed shots of all of their hands together, of Lyla’s adorable little hands and feet and close-ups of those mesmerizing eyes are part of what time stamps this session. Family portraits are a time to celebrate everything that makes your family unique in that moment of time!
